All this glitter and glamour that we see around us. All these objects of desire, all these beautiful looking people, all these splendid views and sceneries.
What are all these? They are nothing; absolutely nothing, except for having a temporary existence in this infinite cycle of time.
And everything that looks beautiful out there, also carries within itself an ugliness, that you can only see when that thing comes towards its end, and every thing that made it beautiful begins to lose itself, one by one.
And of what use are all these beautiful things, and beautiful people, and beautiful views, to a spiritual seeker like you?
They are not permanent, and as such any joy, any feeling, any attachment to them, only leads to suffering, sooner or later. It’s only a matter of time and not a question of probability.
Your family, your home, your possessions, and every thing that you have built, and every thing that you have done, and whatever legacy you think you will leave behind, all of it will turn to dust one day. And there will come a time, if you were only able to live long enough to witness them, when all of that won’t matter at all.
Time will destroy everything, as it always does, and you will be left with nothing, and you yourself will turn into nothing. This is the universal truth that no one, not even Gods can change.
So why spend so much time, why spend so much energy, why worry so much all the time, about those things that are bound to leave you one day. Why try to grab that thing which can never be grabbed by its nature. Why try to fool yourself into thinking that things will be any different for you, than they have been for everyone else before you. Why continue to live a life of ignorance and try to hide yourself from the reality that you see every day around you.
Everything is an illusion, and yet you let yourself get delusional all the time. Everything is perishable, and yet you attach yourself to it as if it’s permanent. Everything is suffering, and yet you try to find joy in them.
A seeker, a yogi, or even an ordinary man can do better than this. He ought to do better than this if he aims to ever rise beyond this cycle of birth and rebirth, and become totally free one day.
And as if the temporary nature of everything in this world, in this universe, wasn’t enough for you to make you look elsewhere for permanent joy and permanent peace, even what is beautiful in this world will appear ugly at its core if you could only see it.
People are fake; the things they say are fake; the lives they live are fake; the lives they make a show of at every given opportunity is fake; their smiles are fake; their tears are fake; their words are fake; their morals are fake. So why seek solace in this fakeness.
The truth is independent of everything. It was there when nothing else was there. And it will be there when nothing else is left. It is that truth, and that and that alone which is not fake; which is worth seeking; which is worth understanding; which is worth becoming one with.
Everything else is a lie. Everything else is a joke. Everything else is fake. Everything else is irrelevant.
Only the truth is relevant.
But thanks to our ignorance and foolishness we continue to spend every waking minute of our life in seeking the irrelevant, in possessing the irrelevant, in the delusion that life is all about getting hold of these irrelevant things.
Who can help us if we don’t want to be helped? Who can show us the way when we have decided to be blind to the reality? Who can make us listen when we only want to hear what makes us happy in this life, and not beyond it?
What a shortsighted view of life that is. This life is only what matters, and what lies beyond that, who cares, right?
If you only understood the temporary nature of your own body, you could see how futile it is to spend all your life in only doing things that pleases this temporary body of yours.
The food, the cloth, the house, the possessions, the people, all these that you call yours, i.e. of your body’s, do they have any meaning at all if your own body ceases to exist?
Your body dictates all your time. Your body dictates what you should eat and what you should avoid. Your body dictates what people you like and what people you hate. Your body dictates where you would like to roam and where to stay away from.
Why have you become such a slave to your body? Why can’t you think of anything else besides what makes it happy? Why do you live and act as if you were a wild beast, who can’t think of anything besides keeping themselves alive and seeking pleasure all the time.
Why can’t you rise above being a beast, and become something higher, become something superior, become something truer.
There also exists something beyond the body, beyond the mind, beyond your feelings, beyond your thoughts, beyond what you see, beyond what you hear, beyond what you smell, beyond what you eat, beyond what you touch. Why not try to discover what that something is.
Why not try to live your life not at the level of your body, but at a higher level – the level of your consciousness. Why not try to live your life with a universal view and not just an individual personality’s view which is created by you.
Where everything is fake, why not try to be the true one. Where everything is an illusion, why not be the one who is real. Where everything is a drama, why not simply observe it as a viewer.
Where everything is suffering, why not try to establish yourself in permanent happiness. Where everything is chaos, why not become fully peaceful from within. Where everyone is bound, why not try to be the liberated one.
Where everyone is ignorant, why not try to be the enlightened one.
You have already wasted so much of your life in continuing to live for the fake world out there. Why do you continue to waste it further? Why not put a permanent end to it today itself, and try to seek the truth that exists there – the truth that has always existed there, but which you couldn’t see earlier because you had the filter of the fake world over your eyes.
But in case all this makes you feel that there is no real beauty in this world, let me clarify it for you.
There is beauty indeed in this world, but it’s the beauty of the soul. There are beautiful words in this world, but those are the ones spoken by enlightened beings. There is beautiful voice in the world, but that’s the voice that utters the name of God all the time.
There is a beautiful feeling in this world, but that’s the feeling of becoming one with the universal consciousness itself. There is a beautiful purpose to this world, but that’s the purpose of living to benefit every life-form, and every thing, in this universe.
It is this true beauty that we should seek, and it is this true beauty that we should try to live with. Because it is this beauty that brings permanent happiness, permanent peace, permanent contentment, permanent meaning to your life.
But to find this true beauty, first you need to give up this fake world out there.
